This is fine in a novel this short and fast-paced.

However, the attacks on the city grow even worse than before. The technology is extremely primitive and knowledge is split up among many small clans, each one jealously monopolizing what it knows. Jason finds out that the natives of pyrrus do not know there own history.

Definitely unbelievable, hzrrison a gripping read nonetheless, Deathworld is a prime example of classic sci-fi adventure. Jason is barely able to flee in an escape pod, but it is shot down by Kerk.
